I hope your spring is going well and you are dusting off the golf clubs. Last week we were lucky enough to get off to an early start to the season. Jeff Rader and his crew have been hard at work getting the course ready to play for everyone. We can’t thank them enough for the work they put in!
The tournament season is coming up fast. I wanted to let everyone know that we are now taking sign-ups for the Opening Day Scramble on Saturday April 23rd. This will be a 9am shot gun that you will sign up as an individual and we will pair you with three other members. The deadline for sign up will be Wednesday April 20th.
Wednesday night men’s member league will start May 11th. Teams that played last year and plan on playing again this year MUST sign up by April 30th and be paid in full. After April 30th we will take any teams that are on our waitlist. This league WILL be full, please secure your spot ASAP, if you are not signed up by April 30th you will forfeit your spot to teams on the waitlist.
Ladies Monday night league: there will be a separate email coming out later this week with information and sign-ups. This league begins on Monday June 20th.
For anyone planning to play in member events, you will need to have a Derryfield GHIN card and season permit holder. If you don’t have one with us you can come by the shop and we can set you up with one.
Merchandise is still arriving as we speak. We are a preferred shop of TaylorMade, but do carry a full supply of Titleist, Callaway and Ping clubs. If we don’t have it we will do our best to get it for you. Supply chains are still strained, so if you’re planning on getting some new clubs, don’t wait, you may miss out on the latest products out on the market.
Lastly, I want to introduce one of my new employees to everyone. Ben Stone, PGA member, will be joining the team to help facilitate daily activities with emphasis on tournament operations. Ben will be helping Ian Willikens and I will with teaching and club fittings. Ben comes from Pembroke Pines where he has been the PGA Head Professional for the last three years. Ben will begin work the week of April 8th. Please welcome Ben and show him why Derryfield CC is so special.
Well, Jen and I are starting our 4th season here at Derryfield CC - I can’t believe how fast it has gone. We are finally going to be residents of Manchester next month as our youngest graduates and heads off to college. I can’t thank Jen (aka “The Mayor”) and the staff enough for helping me with this transition down here over the past three years. It’s been a great ride so far and I couldn’t imagine doing it anywhere else!
